چکیده

The goal of this research is to improve the productivity of Numerically Controlled (NC) machine tools by optimization of feedrate settings. In this paper we compare the maximum cutting forces and cutting times using traditional methods with those achieved using the optimization methods developed in our research. Results indicate that significant productivity gains can be realized using the feedrate optimization techniques. Benefits include shorter cutting times, significantly reduced maximum cutting forces, and reduced uncertainty in the preparation of NC machining programs.

An iterative feedrate optimization method for real-time NURBS interpolator

Non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) interpolator has been widely used in modern manufacturing systems to machine arbitrary geometries with great relief of the data flow bottleneck and feedrate fluctuation. However, in practice, real-time feedrate does not always meet the computer numerical control (CNC) command exactly subject to the system dynamics. To solve this problem, we present a real-t...

Feedrate optimization for ball-end milling of sculptured surfaces using fuzzy logic controller

Optimization of cutting parameters important in precision machining in regards to efficiency and surface integrity of the machined part. Usually productivity and precision in machining is limited by the forces emanating from the cutting process. Due to the inherent varying nature of the workpiece in terms of geometry and material composition, the peak cutting forces vary from point to point dur...

Efficient time-optimal feedrate planning under dynamic constraints for a high-order CNC servo system

In this paper, the time optimal feedrate planning problem under confined feedrate, axis velocity, axis acceleration, axis jerk, and axis tracking error for a high order CNC servo system is studied. The problem is useful in that the full ability of the CNC machine is used to enhance the machining productivity while keeping the machining precision under a given level. However, the problem is comp...
